Where We Started

Over the course of his life, Fred Ahrens — founder and CEO of Remissi’s — has walked alongside people from all walks of life. Raised as a farm kid, he learned early the value of hard work, the importance of community, and the healing power of connection — to land, to animals, and to one another. He saw the quiet struggles of those around him, had his own, and understood even then, that pain often hides behind perseverance.

We believe that everyone deserves a chance to rebuild — not in spite of their past, but because of it. Because our stories are sacred. Because the courage it takes to begin again deserves support.

Remissi’s was born from that belief.

Now, Fred is building something bigger than himself: a heart-centered organization offering comprehensive healing support to individuals in recovery from addiction, incarceration, and abusive relationships. He began by forming a board rooted in compassion — made up of people with lived experience, deep healing knowledge, and the ability to navigate existing systems with care and clarity.

Together, we are creating a path forward — one rooted in dignity, possibility, and the power of starting again.
