Fred Ahrens – Founder & CEO
I grew up on a farm in central Portage County, primarily raising beef cattle and making maple syrup. I also worked on neighboring farms where I helped with crop production, milking cows, and feed deliveries. Over the years, I’ve stepped off the farm to drive truck, operate heavy machinery, and work in construction — but agriculture has always called me back. It grounds me in the essentials of life: what God created, what sustains us, and what reminds us of what truly matters.
I’ve been fortunate to have opportunities throughout my life to help others, and I believe that when you’re given that ability, it’s your responsibility to use it. That belief is what led to the creation of Remissi’s.
While I’m newer to the recovery world, I’ve gained a deep understanding of what’s needed. People in recovery need more than a program — they need a clean, peaceful environment, hands-on experiences that reconnect them to life, and a supportive space to rediscover who they are. At Remissi’s, we’ll provide just that — with animal care, therapeutic farming, in- house food production, and the dignity that comes from learning job skills and building a future.
Transportation to healthcare, therapy, and support meetings will be available, and as participants grow, so will their opportunities for job placement, independence, and lasting change.
At Remissi’s, we’re committed to walking beside those in recovery — helping your loved ones reclaim their strength, rebuild their lives, and flourish again.

Justin Boyles - Vice President
Justin was born and raised in North East Ohio. After graduating from Cardinal High School in Middlefield, Justin faced a difficult season battling opioid and heroin addiction between the ages of 18 and 20. Through a string of fortuitous events, he ended up going to Teen Challenge of Greater Cleveland for help. This is where a journey of faith and healing began for him.
That path led him to discipleship training at Mid-America Adult and Teen Challenge in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. There, Justin experienced what he describes as true freedom from addiction.
In 2010 he moved back to Ohio because he wanted to help others experience the freedom he had found. His journey back home led him to become a youth Pastor for eight and a half years at Abundant Life, helping to found the ministry of United Worship, and to speaking about and sharing what God has done with thousands of people over the years.
Today, Justin is 16 years clean and serves full-time in ministry as the Discipleship Pastor at Horizons Christian Assembly. He and his wife Alyssa, married since 2015, are raising their two sons, Gideon and Malachi, and are foster parents to a beautiful little girl.

Bridget Stuntz - Secretary
Bridget Stuntz is a Case Manager and Certified Peer Recovery Supporter at OhioMeansJobs, where she leads with lived experience and a deep commitment to second chances. She serves as Portage County’s Citizen Circle Coordinator and is an active member of the Reentry Coalition of Summit, Portage, and Medina Counties.

Bridget believes everyone deserves a second chance and strives to help people rebuild their lives.
Outside of work, you’ll find her spending time with her daughter, catching live shows, and hanging out with her three playful dogs.
